Opening Comments

  • Missouri Foundation for Health is unable to host public events in their space likely for the remainder of the year.  Looking for other places to host FPSE Association meetings.  
    • Looking for a donation of a projector and/or a projector screen for using at the other venues that do not have current projector available.
  • Houses with odd number street address are being reassessed this year
    • Neighbor claimed their house was assessed 27% more than previous assessment.

Public Comments

  • Recognition for the FPSE President, Dan Doelling, who is going to be running a marathon.  Neighbor wishes him the best

FPSE Neighborhood Business

Treasurer’s Report (Dan Doelling)

  • Ending cash increased to $2,914.35 from additional dues and donations.
  • General Membership dues start over in new year; dues are pay-what-you-can

Crime & Safety Report (Officer Walker)

  • Extra patrol requests on 4200 block of Swan, Choteau Park.  Choteau Park patrols are being addressed by the Night Watch and additional park patrol.
  • Calls for Service List can be provided on request
  • Neighbor notes shots fired with reports by their location on Gibson.  Neighbor asks for the mobile camera to be moved closer to the alleyway so that they can witness both the streets and alleyway.
    • Dan will connect neighbor to Officer Walker for further follow-up.
  • Ongoing investigation of a car theft on Tower Grove and Vista. 
    • Officer Walker asks if any neighbors have possible videos of the incident that can be shared with them.

Ward 9 Updates (9th Ward Legislative Assistant Kaitlyn Smith) 

  • Next legislative session has began.  Looking for street calming with DoT and updating the street ordinances.
  • Neighbor notes that refuse service is operating outside of allowed times.  Kaitlyn will forward to the Neighborhood Improvement Specialist.
  • Please continue to bring up any issues to CSB.

Neighborhood Events & News (Dan Doelling)

  • Monthly Litter Clean-up: We’re cleaning up the streets and select alleys throughout the neighborhood starting this month! Meet at the corner of Oakland and Newstead on Saturday, April 26 at 10am. Gloves and bags provided! 
  • Celebrating Easter Clean-up: Neighbor welcomes anyone who wants to join them at picking up rubbish around Choteau Park and Rainbow Park. Meet this Sunday, April 20 at noon.
  • Spring Picnic at Chouteau Park: Bring your own food, drinks and chairs/blankets for a picnic in Chouteau Park on Sunday, April 27 at 3PM! Enjoy an easy, breezy Sunday afternoon with the rest of the neighborhood. Why? Just because it sounds delightful. 
  • Apply to be on the FPSE Infrastructure Committee: Have an interest in making our neighborhood walkable? Want to help create a more beautiful Forest Park Southeast? Apply today to be on the FPSE Infrastructure Committee: https://form.jotform.com/233236220630140
    • Infrastructure Committee is looking at updating Choteau Park with an amphitheatre. They are also looking at various traffic calming measures.
  • Get Active with the Neighborhood Beautification Committee: Activities include: Tree watering at Chouteau Park, shrub and tree pruning, and de-volcano mulching. Our next activity will be on Saturday May 3 (flower planting) and Sunday, May 4 (tree pruning) at 10am. Meet at the corner of Newstead & Oakland. 
  • Honeysuckle Removal Event: Come remove invasive honeysuckle at Choteau Park – north side on May 31 at 8am.  If you have an electric saw, you are encouraged to bring them
    • Neighbor wants to know what can be done to improve the fence.  The fence may be a MoDoT fence.  Dan will reach out to Parks and MoDoT for fixing the fence.
  • Shoutout to Little Luucy and Lucy Quinn: Two New restaurants are open at the former BEAST location at 4156 Manchester here in the Grove.  Please support your local restaurants.
